Pastor C.A. Nelson and a small group of believers who had experienced Pentecostal Revival in the Claremore-Tiawah area built the United Pentecostal Church of Claremore in 1953. The church met at 204 W 11th Street in Claremore for over 55 years. In 2008, Pastor Duane Nelson and the congregation began construction of the current building at 605 Westwood Drive, and in 2009 became known as Westwood Claremore. 

 

Our current pastor, Rodney Shirel, and his wife, Pauleta, came to Westwood in July 2020. Pastor Rodney became a licensed minister in 1990 and was ordained with the United Pentecostal Church International in 2000. The Shirels have been married for 37 years and have over 25 years of pastoral ministry before coming to Westwood. They have two adult children and three beautiful grandchildren.
